Last weekend, I spent four hours with some sweet animals looking for a new home. The Washington Humane Society had an adoption event at RCKNDY on U Street in DC.

Don't you always wonder where the good men are? You know, the ones you are attracted to that like to do the things you like to do? Maybe we need to look at spicing up our routine and get out there and do some different things for a change. Wouldn't you like to know 37 Places to Meet the Man of Your Dreams! A friend sent me this cartoon. I found it very endearing and kind of sad. I wonder how many guys feel this way?

Do you know that you can tell if someone is lying to you by observing their behaviors? I had this discussion with a friend the other day. He said that if someone is using their fingers to cover their mouth when they are speaking to you, or clearing their throat alot are two indications that someone is not being honest. I decided to further investigate the topic.

[written by Tamera] Since "married" is the status our society thinks all should aspire to be, I thought it would be nice to read a guy's view on the subject. I found this interesting article by Joseph Dunn who writes about Guyland and it's leader, George Clooney.

[written by kristin] If I think back to my 20's I realize that the traits I was looking for in a man are somewhat different than the traits today. This doesn't surprise me really, because as we grow through experiences, are needs and desires do change. But many also take the road of "settling" to have companionship.

[written by Tamera] We've all had one good friend nudge us to try online dating. Some of us have friends who decided to put up a profile for us. (I know someone who posted his mother's profile, how cute is that?!). "Come on," they say, "What do you have to lose?"

[written by kristin] I think its fantastic when you see a typical tradition changed for the good. Sometimes I think our society gets caught in going along with the motions of what is suppose to be done, because its always been done that way. And forgetting the real purpose or meaning behind a tradition.

I recently met a friend for drinks. We started talking about our love lives and she asked, "Where are all the men?" I replied (as I looked around a restaurant full of people), "Seriously, they're everywhere."

[written by kristin] Men have it pretty good when it comes to the minimal things they have to do to keep their physical beauty. Women on the other hand have to do a whole lot more. It can be exhausting. We spend a ton more on basic maintenance. Even though many men would say that we do all of this nonsense only for other women not men. Not sure I completely buy into that theory.

When I think of someone who is perfect, I think of the character, Bree, in the tv series, Desperate Housewives. She has the perfect home, perfect job, perfect posture, perfect hair, perfect grammar, perfect warddrobe and she's the perfect neighbor.

[written by kristin] There are many things I know men hate about having a girlfriend. They are dictators. They talk too much. They nag about you wanting to hang with the boys. These things sure give us "quality" girlfriends a bad rap. So I would like to flip to the other side for a moment. What are the favorite traits men do see in a girlfriend?

[written by Tamera] Pause at the word: "for-give." "For-to-give." Forgiveness is such a gift that "give" lives in the word. Christian tradition has tried to make it a meek and passive word; turn the other cheek. But the word containes the active word "give, " which reveals its truth. – Michael Ventura, Meeting the Shadow

[written by kristin] Two weeks ago I posted a blog about the chemicals that occur in our brains when we have an attraction towards someone and when we fall in love. There are also other chemicals that occur when a couple decides to stay together even after the "puppy-love" stage is over. What interesting research I discovered.
